'Top Gear' Sued for 'Bad Deal' Review

Here at the Safe House we admit to enjoying a bit of ‘Top Gear’ once in a while, and also ‘Top Gear’ influenced piss takers (see above), although of course we never take drugs, and we strongly support the prohibition of dangerous cars using the combustion engine.

However we also agree with Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson that battery powered ‘electric’ cars are a total con, and are exactly the opposite of ‘green’. First of all where does the electricity come from? Mostly highly polluting coal or oil fired or nuclear power stations. Then the batteries themselves – they are toxic time bombs full of chemicals and ‘blood’ minerals ripped out of the heart of Africa which last a couple of years, if you are lucky. They cost the earth, literally. And batteries are very heavy, so a battery powered car uses a crazy amount of energy just to move the moronic things.

In fact electric cars using batteries which have to be recharged are designed by and for morons. People like Boris Johnson, the mayor of London who has been threatening to spend £20 million of tax payers cash supporting ‘green’ battery baloney. Thankfully it looks like this ignorant plan will be one of the few deserving victims of the Tory Cuts. But he still plans to waste £7 million!

Hydrogen fueled electric cars on the other hand make total sense (except for coal and oil companies). Honda make one and this has been very positively reviewed by Top Gear. But now an electric car manufacturer making a battery powered car (the ‘Tesla Roadster’) is taking Top Gear to court for slagging off and taking the piss out of their battery product for idiots (allegedly).

Of course all the ‘green’ Clarkson haters will be gloating, but they are very wrong to do so. Top Gear is actually greener than they are.

Meanwhile, according to Reuters Tesla have been putting a lot of battery power into court room litigation:

There was the lawsuit Tesla filed against competitor Fisker for allegedly stealing its design ideas and trade secrets.
There was a suit filed by Magna accusing Tesla of two counts of breach of contract for allegedly failing to pay Magna for transmission work. There was a class action suit from former employee David Vespremi against Tesla for breach of contract, libel and slander. And there was the high-profile suit that Tesla co-founder Martin Eberhard’s filed against Tesla, and its current CEO, Elon Musk.

Seems like Tesla’s lawyers are doing well – even if their product is a dead battery (allegedly).
